Summary
- Your screenshots, screen recordings and photos stay on your device. Zeta stitches, edits and exports them on your iPhone or iPad. They are never uploaded to us.
- No tracking in the App. The App contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking SDKs, has no accounts or sign-in, and sends nothing to our servers. Pages you open from the App, such as this policy, load from our Website (section 2.6).
- Apple handles purchases. We never see your name, Apple Account or payment details.
- From the App, we only receive personal information if you contact us, for example by email. When you visit our Website, our server keeps standard access logs (section 3.1).
- Our website uses Google Analytics to count visits. In the EEA, the UK, Switzerland and mainland China it stays off unless you accept. Everywhere else you can turn it off at any time under “Cookie settings”.
- We do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not show ads.
1. Who we are and what this policy covers
Zeta App Studio (“we”, “us”, “our”) publishes Zeta, an app for iPhone and iPad that turns screenshots and screen recordings into long images (shown on the App Store as “Zeta Stitch - Long Screenshots” and under localised names). Zeta App Studio is the name under which independent developer Yangli Jiang, the seller shown on the App Store, publishes Zeta.
This policy covers:
- the App: Zeta for iPhone and iPad, including its Screen Recording extension (“Zeta Scrollshot”);
- the Website: https://zetastitch.com and its pages in every language.
Under data protection laws such as the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we are the controller of the personal information described here. Services run by others, such as Apple or Google, have their own privacy policies, and those govern how they handle your data.
2. The App
2.1 Your content stays on your device
Zeta processes your screenshots, screen recordings, photos and the long images it creates entirely on your device. Stitching, cropping, redaction (blur and mosaic), markup, status bar cleanup and export all happen locally. We do not receive, store or have access to your content.
Content leaves your device only when you choose to send it somewhere. For example, you might share an image, export a PDF or ZIP file, or save it to a cloud service. In that case, whichever service you choose handles it.
2.2 Permissions
| Permission | Why Zeta asks | If you decline |
|---|---|---|
| Photos (read) | To show and let you pick screenshots, screen recordings and images to stitch. With Full Access, Zeta can find your latest screenshot sequence and start stitching as soon as you open it. With Limited Access, Zeta only sees the items you select. | You can’t pick items from your library. |
| Add to Photos | To save the long images you create to your library. | You can still share or export results in other ways. |
| Notifications (optional) | To tell you when a Scrollshot recording is ready. The notification is created on your device. We do not use a push-notification server. | You won’t get the “ready” notification. |
| Screen Recording | Only when you start Zeta Scrollshot yourself from Control Center. iOS shows a recording indicator while it runs. | Scrollshot recording isn’t available. |
You can change these permissions at any time in the iOS Settings app under Zeta.
2.3 Screen recordings (Scrollshot)
When you record with Zeta Scrollshot, the extension uses only the video frames to build your long image. Audio is not recorded. The App keeps your most recent recording, and the frames taken from it, in storage on your device that only the App and its extension can access. That way the App can open the result when you return to it. Your next recording replaces it, and it is removed when you delete the App.
If you import a recording from Photos instead, the original stays in Photos.
2.4 iCloud Photos
If you use iCloud Photos and an original isn’t stored on your device, iOS may download it from your own iCloud account when Zeta needs it. Apple handles this download. Zeta never has access to your iCloud account.
2.5 What the App stores on your device
- your settings and preferences;
- how many free uses you have left and whether Zeta Pro is unlocked, stored in the iOS Keychain. Keychain items can remain on the device after you delete the App, so that free uses don’t reset. They contain no personal information;
- a temporary copy of your most recent result, so you can recover it if the App closes unexpectedly. It is cleared once it has been restored;
- temporary working files used while processing, which the App clears automatically.
The “Favorites” view in Zeta shows the Photos app’s own Favorites album. Zeta does not keep a separate list.
If you choose to delete the original screenshots or recordings after stitching, iOS asks you to confirm before anything is removed.
None of the items above is sent to us.
2.6 No analytics, advertising or tracking
The App contains no third-party analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking SDKs. It does not access the advertising identifier (IDFA) and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites. That is why it never shows Apple’s “Allow Tracking” prompt. There are no accounts and no sign-in. This matches the App’s privacy manifest, which declares that no data is collected.
The App does not connect to us. We run no server for the App, and the App makes no network requests to us. The only exception is a page you choose to open from the App, such as this policy or our Terms of Use. It loads from the Website, and our web server logs the visit as described in section 3.1. Pages opened from the App do not load Google Analytics.
2.7 Purchases (Zeta Pro)
Apple processes purchases through the App Store. We do not receive your name, email address, Apple Account or payment information. The App confirms your purchase on your device using Apple’s StoreKit, without any server of ours. Apple gives us aggregated sales reports, such as the number of purchases per country, and these do not identify you.
2.8 Information Apple provides to developers
- App Analytics. If you turn on “Share with App Developers” in iOS Settings (Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements), Apple shares crash reports and aggregated usage statistics with us. Apple also gives us aggregated App Store figures, such as downloads and product page views by country and source. We cannot identify you from any of this.
- Ratings and reviews. The rating prompt in the App is shown and handled by iOS. Apple processes your rating or review under its own terms. Reviews you publish are public, so we can see them like anyone else.
2.9 When you contact us
By email. You may email zeta_feedback@outlook.com yourself, or use the feedback option in the App, which opens your Mail app with our address and a subject line filled in. Either way, we receive your email address, the name shown in your email, your message and any attachments. The App does not attach any device information automatically. We use your message only to reply, to help you and to improve Zeta. Our mailbox is hosted by Microsoft (Outlook.com).
3. The Website
3.1 Hosting and server logs
The Website runs on servers provided by Alibaba Cloud in the United States. Like most websites, our web server automatically records standard access logs. These contain your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the referring page, and your browser and operating system (user agent). We use these logs only to run and secure the Website and to fix problems. We keep them for up to 90 days and then delete them. We do not use them to build profiles.
3.2 Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google, to understand how the Website is used. It tells us which pages and languages people visit, which countries visitors come from, and whether they tap the App Store download buttons.
What it collects:
- pages viewed and time on the page;
- the page that referred you;
- approximate location (country or city), derived from your IP address. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses;
- device type, operating system, browser, screen size and language;
- the following, each recorded as an event: taps on our “Download on the App Store” buttons and on our contact email address; which FAQ answers you open; switching to another language, and whether our language suggestion was shown or closed; and the address of a page that could not be found, with the page that linked to it.
Cookies: Google Analytics sets the first-party cookies _ga and _ga_JPJW27QM18 on zetastitch.com to recognise returning browsers. By default they expire after up to two years.
Our settings: advertising features, ad personalisation and Google signals are turned off. We do not use remarketing, and Google Analytics data is kept for 14 months. Ad storage is always denied.
Your choice:
- EEA, UK, Switzerland and mainland China: analytics cookies are off by default. Google Analytics sets no cookies until you select “Accept” in the cookie notice. While analytics cookies are off, the page may still send Google limited signals without cookies or identifiers, for example that a page was viewed. Google uses these only in aggregate.
- Everywhere else: analytics is on by default. You can turn it off at any time under “Cookie settings” in the Website footer. You can also install Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
- Global Privacy Control: if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as an opt-out and keep analytics off.
We save your choice in your browser’s local storage on your device, so you don’t have to choose again on every visit. If you clear your browser’s site data, the choice is cleared too.
3.3 What the Website does not do
Fonts, images and scripts are served from our own server. Apart from Google Analytics, the Website makes no requests to other companies. It has no ads, social media plugins or embedded third-party content.
Our “Download on the App Store” links, and the QR codes we show next to them on computers, take you to Apple, where Apple’s privacy policy applies. Both contain a campaign code that tells Apple which page of our Website you came from. Apple uses these codes to give us aggregated download counts per campaign. They contain no personal information.
4. Why we use personal information
| Purpose | Information | Legal basis (EEA/UK) |
|---|---|---|
| Replying to messages and providing support | Email address, name, message, attachments | Our legitimate interest in answering you. Where your question concerns a purchase, performance of our agreement with you |
| Running and securing the Website | Server logs | Our legitimate interest in a secure, working website |
| Website analytics | Google Analytics data described in section 3.2 | Your consent (EEA, UK, Switzerland, mainland China). Our legitimate interest in understanding how the Website is used (elsewhere, where the law allows) |
| Meeting legal obligations | Whatever the obligation requires | Legal obligation |
We do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing.
5. Sharing
We do not sell personal information, and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioural advertising (as those terms are used in California law). We do not show ads.
We use these service providers. Each handles only the information it needs for its role:
| Recipient | Role | Information |
|---|---|---|
| Alibaba Cloud | Website hosting (United States) | Server logs |
| Website analytics | Google Analytics data (section 3.2) | |
| Microsoft | Hosting our support mailbox (Outlook.com) | Emails you send us |
| Apple | App distribution, purchases, ratings and the analytics it provides to developers | Handled by Apple under its own privacy policy |
We may also disclose information:
- where required by law or a valid legal request;
- to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, ourselves or others;
- to a successor if Zeta is transferred. In that case this policy keeps applying to information collected under it.
6. International transfers
We operate from mainland China, and our service providers process data in the United States and other countries. As a result, your information may be processed outside the country where you live.
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards. These include adequacy decisions, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework for certified providers, or Standard Contractual Clauses offered by our providers. You can contact us for more information about these safeguards.
7. How long we keep information
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Support emails | Until your request is resolved, then up to 12 months after the conversation ends. Longer only if needed for a legal claim |
| Server logs | Up to 90 days |
| Google Analytics data | 14 months at event level. Aggregated reports, which do not identify anyone, may be kept longer |
| Your cookie choice | In your browser until you clear it |
| Data stored by the App on your device | Until you delete it or the App (see section 2.5 about the Keychain) |
8. Your rights
8.1 Everyone
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. In practice, the only personal information we usually hold is our email correspondence with you. We cannot see data stored by the App on your device. To remove it, delete the App.
8.2 EEA, UK and Switzerland
You have the right to:
- access your personal information;
- have it corrected;
- have it erased;
- restrict how it is used;
- object to processing based on legitimate interests;
- data portability.
Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time, for example under “Cookie settings” on the Website. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that already took place. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
8.3 California and other US states
In the past 12 months we may have collected these categories of personal information:
- identifiers, such as your email address if you write to us, and your IP address in server logs;
- internet or other electronic network activity, such as interactions with our Website;
- approximate geolocation.
We collect it from you and from your browser or device, for the purposes in section 4. We disclose it only to the service providers in section 5. We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you.
You have the right to:
- know what personal information we hold and access it;
- have it deleted;
- have it corrected;
- opt out of sale or sharing. We do neither, and we honour Global Privacy Control signals as an opt-out;
- not be treated differently for using any of these rights.
An authorised agent may make a request on your behalf. Residents of other US states with privacy laws have similar rights. If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision. If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you can contact your state attorney general.
8.4 Mainland China
If you are in mainland China, the Simplified Chinese version of this policy applies to you and sets out your rights under the Personal Information Protection Law.
8.5 How to make a request
Email zeta_feedback@outlook.com with the subject “Privacy request”. We may need to confirm that the request comes from you. For example, we may ask you to reply from the email address you used to contact us. We aim to respond within 15 working days, and always within the time required by applicable law. Making a request is free.
9. Children
Zeta is a general-audience tool. Neither the App nor the Website is directed at children under 13, or under a higher minimum age where local law sets one. For example, some EEA countries set it as high as 16 for consent to online services.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
Processing your content on your device is our main safeguard: we never hold your images. The Website is served over HTTPS, and access to our support mailbox is restricted and protected with strong authentication. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect the little information we do hold.
11. Changes to this policy
When we update this policy, we change the “Last updated” date at the top. If a change is significant, we will give notice before it takes effect, on the Website and, where appropriate, in the App or its App Store release notes. Earlier versions are available on request.
12. Translations
This policy is available in several languages. If a translation differs from the English version, the English version prevails, except where local law requires otherwise.
